SUMMARY:Wilderness Road State Park Heritage Festival
DESCRIPTION:WBY duo is excited to share Appalachian roots music at this Fall festival for the first time! Come hear banjo\, mandolin\, guitar and harmony vocals ring out Old-Time\, ‘grassy and mountain Gospel tunes. The fest\, which runs from 10am-5pm\, celebrates Southwest Virginia’s unique cultural heritage and features handmade Appalachian crafts available for purchase on the Karlan Mansion lawn. Demonstrators showcase their time-honored skills; various musicians play through the day; and children can enjoy fun and educational activities\, all with an Appalachian theme. Concessions will be available. More info to be announced. Admission is $10 per vehicle with no limit on number in vehicle.

DESCRIPTION:Wild Blue Yonder is thrilled to perform for the first time at this time-honored Folklife festival\, now in its 48th year! With special guest on flute/whistles Karen Leffel to help us share sprightly Celtic tunes\, along with traditional and Appalachian songs. Catch WBY on the ORNL Gazebo stage for two sets\, starting at 2:45. Fest runs October 25-27\, 2024 and honors the rich traditions of the past and supports modern interpretations of those traditions. More than just a fine art and craft show\, visitors to the family-friendly event enjoy two stages of mountain music\, storytelling\, prize-winning dancers\, regional authors\, children’s activities\, and abundant good food. Also enjoy live demonstrations of traditional crafts like blacksmithing\, basket making\, wood turning and more. Preview Party on Friday evening (10/25) features live entertainment\, food\, and advance purchase of juried crafts.
